Yes, they were born with those iris colors. Embrance is purple and Ullgrent (the older of the two) is red. Embrance is the brawn and Ullgrent the brains.
This is during their adolescence in one of the many games Atheireyn will play. This is in the game of hide and seek. It's a little different than what you know. If you're found, you're beaten to unconsciousness by the opposite team. (young Atheireyn are as strong and durable as adults so it is easier to be beaten to unconsciousness than an adult. This teaches the young caution when on hunts and fights. Life on Home and in the universe is hard for an Atheireyn) The twins were highly competitive and hadn't lost a game (when together) To the point where others believed they were cheating and were broken up into separate teams.
